A life update in irregular times

Image
Man, life has been a rollercoaster in 2020. So much of our world has changed, seemingly never to really return to the way things used to be. As a regular working stiff, I wanted to weigh in on where I'm at through all of this and how COVID-19 has impacted my world lense.

On-the-go poetry entry #8

"So, Here's to the New Year" When the restless will be put to bed When dead memories will stay dead When what's done is done and said is said. Here's to the New Year. When the messages stay read When last year's life has been lead When we stop looking back from here only ahead. Here's to the New Year. When the tears were shed When we felt misled When we accept what we can't change and move on instead. It's how we got here So, Here's to the New Year.

On-the-go poetry entry #7

"Can you blame me?" Looking toward the future But you ask me to stay put Weighing the consequences You're talking inches I constantly need a foot So tired of the hot and frigid Ready to just move on  But something keeps me waiting We're beyond the introduction And the conclusion is foregone Sometimes, it feels like games You're so Guess Who? We've skipped my turn And I'm all out of guesses Not in the mood for Clue I told myself I love you But that means nothing You say you want to love me fully Are you able to commit? I bet you're bluffing And can you blame me? For being so over this You're so quick to quit Give my love away Cease and desist  Can't wait any longer This is my final plea I can't sit still anymore I'm back on my own feet Can you blame me?

On-the-go poetry entry #6

"When it's time" Where do you want to go?      When it's time, of course Will you dance across the sparkling stars?      Or swim through the sweeping clouds? I know just where I      Want to be Not so far away      A whisper riding the summer breeze And when it's time      Won't you ride the gust behind me?

Ten more things you (probably) don't know about me

Man, oh man. It's been awhile since my last list and I've seen and done a whole lot since then. Time to update those who have been around for a minute and introduce pieces of me to those who've only been around for a second. Think you know me? Try these on for size!

Meet Tony

Image
A few years back, before going to college but after graduation high school, I threw myself into the workforce to buy myself some time. I really needed to think about what it was that I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I wasn't sure I'd make it long being a backroom truck unloader that holiday season at The Christmas Tree Shops, but I learned one thing for certain. That was who I was going to be for the rest of my life. Meet Tony.

Putin: A World Power

Image
Vladimir Putin is undoubtably one of the most polarizing individuals in any government body today. From his militaristic approach of Russian nationalism, to his most humble diplomatic tendencies around the globe, President Putin is someone nearly every human on Earth has an opinion on. I am no different in this matter. I'm willing to bet that unlike most Americans, I believe President Putin to be the most important world leader in the last twenty years. If I haven't lost you yet, give me a chance to explain why...

To disappear is the dream

On the verge of going on a family vacation seems like the silliest time to realize just how minuscule my life has become. I should be excited to be on the beach, without a care in the world, for the next week. However, that isn't really the case for me. A week is nice, but that week comes and goes. Vacation for me, in July of 2017, is only a temporary fix to a more permanent problem that I've continually faced.

Ten things you (probably) don't know about me

I like to fancy myself as a pretty eccentric guy. Though funny for the most part, I'm also often perceived as a bit mysterious. So, with this piece, I wanted to pull back the curtain ever so slightly and reveal some of my personality traits and quirks that may not be immediately apparent. What makes me tick? I'm not sure... Let's find out together!

Late night thoughts, the monotony, and the future

Image
For this entry, I figured I'd write out some of the life questions I've struggled with. This is one is for those late-night over-thinkers like me who go from hanging up with a loved one to rethinking your entire existence and current life situation. It sucks, but it happens to everyone, in some capacity. In order to deal with these episodes (that I've had my whole life, mind you), I'm going to attempt to explain the most common late-night thoughts that plague me, and how I attempt to talk myself through them... Especially at the least opportune time, usually around two in the morning, especially when tomorrow is going to be an early day at work!
