On-the-go poetry entry #4

Fall From Grace

Have you ever experienced heartbreak?
Of course you have
We're all no strangers to hurt
When love's at stake

We wear our heartache on our face
Smiles fade with time
When we've loved and lost
We've felt the fall from grace

And hey, alone ain't so bad
Because we know it won't last
We'll just watch the hours pass us by
And a few years of healing will jump up fast

Though, our happiness won't wait
We gotta' grab it when we have the chance
Unless it isn't meant to be, for that pain we must brace

Been there, done that
We've felt the fall from grace

And although this sounds like a country song
So sad and slow
I ain't much of a singer
That much we both know

I'm just tired of holding in
Just need this pain gone
They say the heart's the strongest muscle
But mama always told me that it was brains over brawn

And it won't be long now
We know things have come to pass
It's about time you put me out
And get over my sorry ass

And we'll both be back up and ready
Out there on our own
Taking love at our own pace

Because we've felt the fall from grace
